Los Angeles police are investigating a high-profile burglary after thieves targeted the home of former Premier League star Olivier Giroud, making off with an estimated $500,000 worth of jewelry.
Giroud, 38, who previously played for Arsenal and Chelsea, currently resides in the U.S. after signing with Los Angeles FC last year. His residence became the latest in a string of burglaries involving high-profile athletes, including NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
According to reports from TMZ Sports, the break-in occurred earlier this month and was discovered by Giroud’s wife, Jennifer, on February 5. She noticed a shattered window at their Los Angeles property and immediately alerted authorities. Among the stolen items were ten luxury watches, contributing to the hefty estimated loss.
The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to make any arrests but continues to investigate the crime. Giroud and his wife purchased the home in September 2024, just months before the incident.
This burglary is part of a troubling trend, with professional athletes increasingly becoming targets of sophisticated criminal operations. The FBI issued a warning in December regarding organized burglary rings targeting sports figures. Similar incidents have impacted stars across multiple leagues, including NBA player Luka Doncic and NFL quarterback Joe Burrow, whose home invasion led to the arrest of several Chilean nationals.
Giroud, known for his successful career spanning Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan, was also a key player in France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad. As he prepares for his first full MLS season, LAFC is set to kick off their campaign this weekend against Minnesota United.
The investigation into the burglary remains ongoing as law enforcement officials work to track down the culprits responsible for the latest high-profile heist in Los Angeles.
