Ange Postecoglou and Spurs players booed by fans after another loss
On Sunday, Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat to Premier League newcomers, with Ipswich Town taking a 2-0 lead before halftime thanks to goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap. Rodrigo Bentancur pulled one back for Spurs with just over 20 minutes remaining, but the visitors secured all three points, marking their first top-flight victory since 2002.
At the final whistle, some Spurs fans voiced their discontent, booing the team as they left the pitch. Manager Ange Postecoglou headed toward the tunnel, hands in his pockets and looking visibly frustrated. Just before disappearing from view, he stopped abruptly, seemingly reacting to a comment from the stands to his left. He looked up, fixing his gaze on a specific spot, with his staff following suit.
After holding his stare for a few moments, Postecoglou continued down the tunnel. Despite his disappointment with a section of the fans, he took responsibility for Spurs’ fifth league loss of the season. "Ultimately, it’s my responsibility," he stated in the post-match mixed zone. "It’s got nothing to do with the players. The inconsistency we’re having this year is down to me. I’ve got to make sure that I try and find a way for us to become a more consistent side."
Postecoglou also acknowledged fans’ right to express their dissatisfaction. Spurs now sit 10th in the Premier League standings, while Ipswich have climbed out of the relegation zone, holding a one-point cushion above 18th-placed Crystal Palace.
